         A Simple Check-In

What are five simple exercises to do at home?

When I first read the question I thought to myself ‘oh boy I’m in trouble’. I don’t have five exercises that I physically do at home.  I do have five simple check-ins I do a couple times a day to keep me in the present, balanced and routine.

A couple times a day I tap into my physical wellness, mental wellness, emotional wellness, spiritual wellness, and my financial wellness.

When I check-in to my physical wellness, I don’t just go on a walk with my dog. I work on identifying  physical sensations that I experience to be able to be aware of how my physical senses are associated with my emotional thoughts. That  decreases the negative emotional spewing and helps me to be mindful. Painting and writing also are things that help my emotional wellness

For my mental wellness I look at it as an overall state of mind. I ask myself if I am hungry, angry, lonely or tired. If so, I address those first. That gives me the ability to think straight. I’ll do some word search, reading, and meditation. Anything that brings my mental wellness to a zen.

Spiritual wellness is the first important thing I do at the beginning of my day. I’m a believer of Jesus Christ our Savior. Welcoming Him into my day, helps me remember who I am here for  on earth and why. I also feel more confident in this fallen world as an imperfect person to be able to be an example of the love, mercy and grace that the Lord gives me anew everyday.

Financial wellness is not always in our control, but we can do some budgeting and put in the hard work to live a disciplined financial healthy life.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.".        -Philippians 4:13
