What would we see if we were able to step out of our body and mind and look in at our own actions, behaviors, reactions, expressions and overall demeanor. Of course no one can physically do that, it’s impossible! I’m speaking in a metaphorical manner; A thought process of being more mindful.
I don’t see how I present myself, as others do. I think they are just outsiders looking in, so what do they really know about me. I am going to guess, they know a lot more than I think they do, because they see us from a point of view that we are subconsciously blindsided by.
Everybody has heard the saying “ go look in the mirror”. Wouldn’t that be nice if we had a mirror attached to us allowing us to get a good clear view of what we look like at all times and I’m not just speaking of our good looks but also our bad looks.
What would I honestly see? Then, I’d have a follow up question, asking do I like who and what I see? Would I hang out with someone like me? Am I really approachable? Am I the one judging? Yelling, reacting, not acting, being emotional versus being mindful?
By the time I would be done deeply examining my “looking’ in instead of out. There would be a different reflection. It would be a reflection, not the one I normally see in the mirror every day, but a reflection to grow, learn, and embrace my good qualities. Accept my flaws, step out of my comfort zone and look forward in the direction of self discovery and self love.
Now, the moment I look in the mirror every day, it’s not just to see my face or fix my hair. I now take a moment to really reflect on my reflection of who I truly am and want to be, and how I want that to impact my day and especially those I encounter. I softly say a prayer to thank God for all of me as he has created and to guide me in the direction of kindness, gratitude, understanding and grace as I walk with him during my day.
We are imperfect, yet perfectly designed by God. Please stay kind.
